Faux Bois cup and saucer by Burleigh
On a cold, snowy winter's day, after a walk in the woods, it's time for a warming cup of hot chocolate.
Down from the shelf comes my biggest cup and saucer, Faux Bois, the most suitable for the job, n'est ce pas?
Having been established in 1851, Burleigh ware is still manufactured in Stoke-on-Trent, using an underglaze transfer printing process which has been in use for over 200 years. The transfers themselves are printed from a hand-engraved copper roller. Find out more about this process here.
Meanwhile, on with drinking the hot choc!
Is that cup stamped with Ross Sveback?

No, it is Faux Bois by Burleigh, England.

Burleigh made these for me, so it is very odd that it does not have my name back-stamped on them. See the link: http://kon-tent.blogspot.com/2009/02/faux-bois-dinnerware.html
Where did you purchase it?

Hi Ross, I bought it from Liberty, London, sometime around 2002-2004?

I love seeing it and love the fact that you love it. I was just curious where you purchased it and when. Burleigh has basically shut down now if you do not know - Denby is going to manage the shop and produce roughly a handful of their classic patterns. I have had to find someone else to make the faux bois for me and just recently found a pottery in England that can do it. I hope to have the new pieces come out of production in the next 60-90 days.
