For the next couple of posts in my ongoing Shelf Sunday series, I'm looking at contemporary Danish design. Lovely.
A long weekend in Copenhagen has left me full of inspiration, having thoroughly enjoyed experiencing a slice of Scandinavian style.
Round the corner from our apartemnet in Østerbro we chanced upon ceramicist Gry Fager's new studio/shop on Randersgade.
When we first passed by, it was shut but I couldn't resist taking a snap on my phone of her beautiful window display of her wares.
Gry Fager designed and developed the Mormor collection for Danish design retailer Normann Copenhagen, inspired by traditional Scandinavian tea towels and dish cloths. (Mormor means grandmother in Danish)
But when I saw her range which features a fresh modern take on cross stitch, I was hooked!
Luckily on our next morning's walk, the studio was open, and Gry was busy at work, so we were able to spend a while ooh-ing and ahh-ing over her different vessels and designs, as well as having a nice chat.
And so here is our lidded jar here at home on the shelf.
I would have quite happily brought back any (or most) of her collection, but this sweet little jar with a mahogany lid fits in right at home, in the meantime I'll just have to wait until our next visit!
