The Poundshop is a platform for designers to sell designer goods under the strict brief that the product is to be sold within the affordable price bands £1, £5 and £10.
Founded in April 2010, its 7th incarnation is leaving the bright lights of London and is quite literally setting-up shop in Manchester.
As well as opening as a curated pop-up shop in Manchester, with an interior designed by MUSIC, there will also be an online shop offering international delivery.
I am thrilled to have been selected to take part, and I have designed and made a new product specifically for this event, Letter Keyrings.
Made from screenprinted canvas, one side shows an initial letter, the reverse is made from fabric I have printed with a tower-block image, so each one shows a bit of a window, some bricks or a door. Which makes it an ideal key-fob for house keys!
The shop is to be located within the Chinese Art Centre in the Northern Quarter, and opens to the public on Saturday 8 June, and will run until 22 June. More info here
The collective behind The Poundshop have recently been accoladed as one of Selfridges' "Bright Young Things 2013".
